Adulthood

For a while now, I've wanted to make a tunnel book. I just was stumped on ideas for one. One finally came to me, though, in the form of a text post on Tumblr. This text post was basically someone writing a letter of rejection to the universe, saying they don't want to be an adult. I added a few lines to it, and this book was born. As you can see from the last picture, this book can stretch far so from far away it looks like one picture. I loved making this one.

Half Love

This book is very precious to me. It is called "Half Love" because of what it is about. This book is about my experience having feelings for someone who doesn't feel the same way. This has happened to me enough for me to make an illustrated book about it. I only have three of these book made, to date, because all the illustrations in the books are identical to one another, so that exact takes time. The pages are sewn together using pink thread. This is a technique I learned from "Making Handmade Books" by Alisa Golden. I am very proud of this book because it was me taking my heart-breaking experience and turning it first into a poem, and then into illustrations to go with the words. My inspiration for this book came from a published artist book titled "Love" illustrated by Gian Berto Vanni. If you've never heard of it, here is the Amazon link to the book. Buy it!: Love Book
It has to be the coolest book I've ever had the privilege to read. The relation to my book title is purely coincidental.
